EXHIBITION, RESTORATION, ORIGINALITY AND ELEGANCE CONTEST – MADEIRA CLASSIC CAR REVIVAL AND REEDITION OF THE RAMPA DOS BARREIROS.
The “Madeira Classic Car Revival”, hereinafter referred to as MCCR or event is an initiative jointly hosted by Clube de Automóveis Clássicos da Madeira (hereinafter referred to as CACM) and the Regional Secretariat of Economy, Tourism and Culture, with the support of the City Hall of Funchal and Parish Council of Sé, seeks to show and reward the best and most elegant antique and classic vehicles (hereinafter only referred to as vehicles) of the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This year’s event will take place on the 24th, 25th and 26th May 2024 and includes the “Rampa dos Barreiros” that will take place on a date to be determined.
The events will be organized by the CACM.
The participation of those registered in this event assumes unequivocally the knowledge and full acceptance of the dispositions of this Regulation.
RAMPA DOS BARREIROS REGULATION
This regulation is specific and of exclusive interest to those who participate in the “Rampa”. It is of mandatory reading for those who register and is available on the FPAK and CACM website .
MCCR REGULATION
1 – The MCCR will take place in downtown Funchal, occupying all garden spaces and squares in front of the city bay, next to the Avenida do Mar, between the city pier and the Praça da Autonomia. The Praça do Povo will be the location where the contests will be held, where the vehicles that are candidates for prizes will be displayed , the event´s invited vehicles, the vehicles to be honoured and the winners of previous editions (Best of Show) will be on display. It will also be in Praça do Povo that the parade of the winners and the award ceremony will take place.
2 -The organization will select the members of the “support team” and will define the respective program that will be disclosed when presented and that may include, among other activities, the launching of specific publications, lectures and autograph sessions, the exhibition of vintage and classic vehicles, the showing of restoration projects, the presence of one or several guests of honour vehicles, an Automobilia display, several competitions, the attribution of homages in addition to the Elegance, Restoration and Originality contests.
3 – It is the responsibility of the Organization to coordinate the “Support Team” and to distribute the functions and duties to its members.
4 – Registration of vintage and classic vehicles, produced until 1980 will be accepted in the event, namely: light and heavy vehicles, all-terrain, buses and other vehicles of specific use (agricultural, ambulances, firefighters, etc.), motorcycles and bikes if properly restored, with its originality maintained and properly prepared for exhibition to the public. The organization will later formulate the invitation, not being obliged to justify the rejected registrations.
5 – The Organization may decide to accept other recent vehicles, as long as the historical interest, the rarity or the quality of the same is justified.
6 – There will also be a group of designated pre-classic vehicles, which, being prestige vehicles between the years 1992 to 2002, will be exhibited in their own place, or not, according to the organization’s decision, whose registration will only take place by invitation of the organization, as well as the Classic cars.
7 – Vehicles to be exhibited require prior registration for the event, whose participation will depend on validation (invitation) by the organization.
- I – Registration for the event is free.
- II – Registration results from the invitations addressed by the organization.
- III – The registration date is on the CACM website and Facebook page.
8 – Those interested in participating in the various initiatives that make up the program, particularly in Automobilia Fair or Exhibition of Restoration Projects must manifest this interest during the period aforesaid and shall also ensure all means necessary to implement their presence, particularly those that will have a participation in the exhibition of their goods to the public in the areas defined by the Organization. The organization is not responsible for any damage, theft of the exposed material, which may exist during the period in which the exhibition takes place, nor resulting from transport to and from the place designated by the organization to exhibit.
9 – The formal registration for the event will result from the acceptance of the invitation received and must be completed through the presentation of the Electronic Registration Bulletin, which appears on the website to be designated by the organization. After a period of five working days, the participant will have to confirm his registration in the list of participants. Should the contestant not be on the list, an email must be sent to (direcao@cacm.pt) alerting the matter.
10 – The electronic submission of the Electronic Registration Bulletin, registers the will to voluntary participate in the event, as well as, the act is considered as a replacement for the signature of the interested party.
11 – The various clubs, groups and associations of RAM; Amigos das Bicicletas Antigas – Madeira; Amigos Japoneses Antigos; Amigos FIAT Madeira; Amigos Peugeot Antigos da Madeira; BMW Clube Madeira; Clube Carocha da Madeira; Clube Mini Madeira; Clube Land Rover da Madeira; Grupo MG – Madeira; Grupo Volvo; Mercedes Benz Clube Portugal; Motorizada Clube da Madeira; Squadra Alfa Romeo Madeira; Vespa Amigos Madeira; AMTT; Associação de Motociclismo da Madeira ;will be invited in order to motivate the participation in the event, of the vehicles of their associates and supporters, subjecting themselves to respect the present regulation.
12 – Favouring greater coverage, the Organization may invite to participate in the event the best competition vehicles in the Region.
13 – A prestigious brand may be present at the event, as a supporter, who will be assigned a specific space which may or may not be referred to by its brand name.
14 – The Organization shall or shall not endeavour to reserve a specific space for the celebration of anniversaries related to various celebrations or even with the anniversary of makes or models.
15 – The Organization may limit the number of participants if these exceed the maximum capacity, depending on the space assigned for the event.
16 – The vehicles will be exhibited according to the spaces and locations set by the Organization for each edition. Participants should arrive sharp at the time established by the Organization, who will check the number assigned and indicate the place of each vehicle, where it must compulsorily stay until the departure time, unless otherwise stated by the Organization itself.
17 – During the day, at a time to be set by the Organization, the “Restoration Contest”, “Originality Contest” and the “Concours d’Elegance” will take place.
18 – The “Best of Show Contest” covers vehicles that are candidates for the best restoration. Of these, the organization will select the best, 5 (five) to 8 (eight) cars, 6 (six) motorcycles (two motorcycles, two motorbikes and two scooters and of these, it will be mandatory to have a Portuguese motorcycle or motorbike) and 3 (three) bicycles, which will be displayed in a prominent place in Praça do Povo. The respective juries will choose the vehicle that, in their opinion, deserves the award, taking into account the quality of its restoration, its age and the difficulty in recovering it.

I – Among the vehicles on display, the jury may select one or more vehicles to compete for the respective award.
II – The pre-selected vehicles will be displayed in a place to be defined by the organization, where the respective owners, or their representatives, must remain to accompany and facilitate the jury’s access to them, at the time established for the respective inspection.
III – The vehicles pre-selected for the “Best of Show Contest” (cars, motorcycles and bicycles) will parade on the crosswalk at Praça do Povo, according to the route defined and indicated by the organization for the purpose, thus being presented to the jury, guests and the general public. This parade will be held before the final awards ceremony.
IV – The winning vehicles will, at the end, circulate again on the same route for the attribution of the respective prizes.
19 – The jury of the “Best of Show Contest” will be made up of technicians, preferably, and whenever possible, from outside RAM, who will classify the vehicles, taking into account the following parameters:
I – Automobiles
The international criteria is followed for this type of competition. The jury will indicate the three best cars from the “Best of Show Contest”, and the winning car will be chosen, through a secret ballot.
Motorcycles:
1. General Appearance
2. Painting
3. Motor
4. Instruments
5. Upholstery
6. Tires and rims.
For bicycles:
1. General Appearance
2. Painting
3. Upholstery
4. Tires and rims.
In each of these parameters (bicycles and motorcycles) a rating from 0 to 100 (increasing order of importance) will be applied. The winner will be the vehicle with the highest score. In the event of a tie, the “Best of Show” vehicle will be chosen by secret ballot among the members of the jury.
20 – The jury of the “Contest of Originality” will be made up of an odd number of personalities who do not belong to the organization, invited by the organization and who are personalities linked to different activities.
The winner will be the most voted exhibited vehicle and the one considered the “Most Original” of the event. In case of a tie, the winning vehicle will be chosen, by secret ballot, among the members of the jury of the “Best of Show” contest and one member of the organization.
21 – The jury of the “Contest of Elegance” will be made up of an odd number of personalities who do not belong to the organization, invited by the organization and who are personalities linked to different activities.
The winner will be the most voted exhibited vehicle and the one considered the “Most Elegant” of the event. In case of a tie, the winning vehicle will be chosen, by secret ballot, among the members of the jury of the “Best of Show” contest and one member of the organization.
22 – The participating vehicles will be grouped according to the criteria chosen by the organization, in the following categories:
Class A – Cars;
Class B – Motorcycles;
Class C – Bicycles;
Class D – Other vehicles.
23 – The following prizes will be awarded to the winners of each contest:
Class A
a) – “Best of Show”;
b) – “Originality Contest”;
c) – “Contest of Elegance”.
Class B
a) – “Best of Show”;
b) – “Originality Contest”;
c) – “Contest of Elegance”;
d) – “Best Portuguese Motorcycle”;
e) – “Best Scooter”.
Class C
a) – “Best of Show”;
b) – “Originality Contest”;
c) – “Contest of Elegance”.
For all pre-selected vehicles, except those awarded:
a) – “Medal of Merit”
All vehicles participating in the event will receive a “Certificate of Participation”.
The winning vehicles are designated as the “Masters”of any class, in any edition, with the prize for “Best of Show”, being reserved for them a special place in the Praça do Povo in the following editions of the event, and given the possibility of admission to new competition in the space of five editions after the one in which they were distinguished. This rule for admission to a new competition also applies to all winning vehicles of prizes like “Originality Contest“ and “Concours d’Elegance”, for any of the classes mentioned in this Regulation and their “Contests”.
24 – The award ceremony will take place at Praça do Povo, at a time to be defined by the Organization, for all the distinguished vehicles, where they must attend in accordance with the Organization’s indications.
25 – The vehicles on display must be removed from the event venue, respecting the organization’s guidelines for this purpose, allowing for a final parade to be held.
For participants with more than one vehicle, the organization recommends preventing this operation by using other duly qualified drivers, with the sole aim of meeting the schedules.
26 – The vehicle exhibition area shall be defined and fenced to avoid direct public contact with them, being permitted only owners admitted in that area or their representatives, as well as the members of the Organization and juries for the Restoration, Originality and Elegance Contests.
27 – The organization ensures security/policing for vehicles that will spend the night in Praça do Povo. This space will be fenced and vehicles will be covered overnight.
The organization will not be liable for any personal injury. Nor for damage or any theft caused to participating vehicles. Nor in relation to any goods left inside them. Nor in decorative accessory(s).
